That means that there’s a version of this lens to mount natively onto every Nikon F mount camera made since the original F in 1959, including the most recent DSLRs.

Periodic shooting with this lens is not as bad, but I had a lot of back pain after shooting weddings with it all day long…not something I want to do again. Do keep in mind if you’re thinking about getting a bunch of prime lenses that every time you change a lens you increase the possibility of dust getting into your sensor, and of dropping a lens.I do plan to upgrade next year to a full frame so the lens I get now I want to use for the new camera (750 or 810). In use, we found the focusing to be indeed very-very quiet, and pretty fast - but not instantaneous -, with the lens mounted to a Nikon D700 body.

When it comes to bokeh, the Nikon 35mm yields a pleasant bokeh, somewhat similar to the Nikon 24mm f/1. Otherwise, this new lens isn't much different in performance compared to Nikon's existing 35mm f/2 AF-D which is even smaller, lighter and less expensive. For travel, street, environmental portraits, and even more standard portraits, I am happy to use my 35mm. This f/2 lens isn't quite as sharp in the far corners, but it has much less color fringing than the f/1.

Longitudinal chromatic aberrations are more pronounced, with some green fringing evident in blurred backgrounds and magenta fringes sometimes appearing in out-of-focus foregrounds. And if you want sharpness and focusing to be gnat’s sharp straight out of the box, skip this Sigma and get the Nikon. I own a D7200 and will be shooting a small wedding and a couple of (graduation) portrait sessions, all outdoors, in late May early June minus the wedding reception which will be indoors.

It’s the lens that everyone shoots on when they first take black and white photography in high school. One thing you have to remember though, is that you should not only look at sharpness tests when choosing between lenses. Taking in the feeling of a market or parade with a wide photo is essential to have in a series of images. Indeed, priority is given to manual override when in autofocus mode, signified by the M/A M lettering above the auto/manual focus switch. While Zeiss shows a minimal amount of ghosting and flares at largest apertures, stopping it down to f/8.
