Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health. This setting powder can be used alone or on top of makeup. To set: Swirl lightly over the face with a powder brush. To bake: Apply over concealer with brush, leave on for 5-10 minutes, brush off. Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS. Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number). When I first bought it, it was filled to the top which meant I couldn’t shake it properly and my makeup would be smothered in ‘snow’ so I ended up tipping out a little of the mist down the sink, so there was a gap at the top of the bottle allowing me to be able to fully shake the bottle. The bottle doesn’t contain a ball bearing like the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist bottle does. I think it would be so much better if it did contain one, as it’d help to blend the mix better.

Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication. Some makeup setting sprays are designed to be able to be used in layers, between primer and foundation and between foundation and powder before finishing with a final mist. However, the Maybelline Lasting Fix Makeup Setting Spray specifically says on the bottle it’s to be used. As a setting spray it’s OK, but it’s not the best I’ve ever tried. I much prefer the Maybelline Dream Satin Mist Luminous Setting Mist, it’s a lot more impressive in comparison.
