I actually liked how Jill made some references to the Covid-19 pandemic in her book, as really it's one of the closest things we have now in modern memory to compare to the terrifying era that was the AIDS epidemic including the fear and vilifying of a particular group of people. If you are thinking about booking a last minute visit to corfu in October and November, I definitely recommend booking with Magdalena at the Pink Palace. Her love teaches us that unconditional love will get us through the darkest of times and give us an opportunity to build on the ashes of the glories of those who went before.

Love from the Pink Palace by Jill Nalder review — meet the

We got to meet people from all over the world and engage in activities like kayaking, four wheeling, and boating. At one point we stopped at a private beach to play some games which involved getting into sexual positions with your partner, switching swimsuits and eventually getting fully naked. There’s something about Jill’s straightforward South Welsh narrating of her life which echos the flint and steel in the soul of this Neath girl. I enjoyed that Nalder also focuses on the wide reaching horrors of the AIDS pandemic and shows how loved those who suffered were. million on an apartment in The Eighth development by Crema Group will also be able to enjoy “experience showers” capable of recreating a tropical monsoon and a rooftop pool and bar inspired by the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles.

Love From The Pink Palace is a moving memoir featuring Jill Nalder’s real-life experiences after leaving her hometown of Port Talbot, all amidst the rising AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 90s. She enjoyed being “the keeper of secrets” for her fellow students at Mountview drama school when they told her they were gay. To do all of that while caring for so many facing end of life trauma and demanding daily care, makes it even more remarkable.

Jill is and was a true inspirational hero and support for a lot of gay men who suffered through the very worst of the AIDs pandemic. Love and miss this place - Review of The Pink Palace Love and miss this place - Review of The Pink Palace

After the success of Russell T Davies’ It’s A Sin and the outpouring of love for one of its main characters, Jill Baxter, it was only a matter of time before the ‘real’ Jill, upon whom Baxter was based, shared her story.

Dancing on the way back was so much fun x Greek dancing and plate smashing in the local hotel was brilliant. It recounts her life as an actor who partied with drag queens and hosted cabarets in her flat, painting a portrait of a city wrapped up in glamour and hope – until rumours arrived from America about a frightening illness dubbed the “gay flu”. Although a factual depiction of the Aids pandemic, Love from the Pink Palace is about love and family and pride and loyalty. I bought this book last year but was a bit nervous about opening the wounds that the devastating ‘It’s a Sin’ caused and I was right to be, it ripped them all open again. With her band of best friends – of which many were young, talented gay men with big dreams of their own – she grabbed London by the horns: partying with drag queens at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, hosting cabarets at her glamorous flat, flitting across town to any jobs could get.
