The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III five sovereign piece 2023 brilliant uncirculated coin". Royal Mint . Retrieved 20 June 2023. Mel Owen ( Tamzin Outhwaite) drunkenly rages at the residents over their opinions about the sentencing of her son, Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter). Robinson, Brian (1992). Silver Pennies & Linen Towels: The Story of the Royal Maundy. London: Spink & Sons Ltd. ISBN 978-0-907605-35-5. When Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840, she commissioned Honiton lace for her wedding ensemble, reviving a fading lace industry in Honiton, Devon. See < https://www.rct.uk/collection/themes/trails/royal-weddings/queen-victorias-wedding-dress> [accessed 28 November 2021]. Queen Victoria wore her wedding lace for the christenings of the Princess Royal (1841), Princess Alice (1843), Prince Alfred (1844), Princess Louisa (1848), Prince Arthur (1850), Prince Leopold (1853), and Princess Beatrice (1857).

A draft letter in the Royal Archives from Victoria to Queen Emma, dated 16 June 1864, expresses Victoria’s sympathy and shares words of comfort and advice: While attempting to prevent their father, Max Branning ( Jake Wood), from committing suicide, Lauren Branning ( Jacqueline Jossa) and Abi Branning ( Lorna Fitzgerald) fall from the roof of the pub in the same place as their half-brother, Bradley Branning ( Charlie Clements). Lauren survives the fall, while Abi later dies of her injuries in hospital. While the bust has the appearance of a highly realistic likeness, the sculptor did not work from life but from photographs, using his own mother as a model for the figure and drapery. He said at the time, “One was Queen of my country – the other Queen of my heart”. Hughes and Mullins was the business partnership of photographers Cornelius Jabez Hughes (1819–1884) and Gustav William Henry Mullins (1854–1921). The surviving glass plate negatives remain in the Royal Collection, RCIN 2079258–2079425, 2082362, 2082365–2082758, 2082930–2083319, 2083561–2084477, 2084661–2084963, 2119164, 2506821, 2507998–2508068.The original marble sculptures from which this Parian bust and its pair, a bust of Prince Albert (museum no. 7888-1862), were copied were made by the Italian sculptor Carlo Marochetti (1805-1867) and were shown at the Royal Academy in 1851. These Parian versions were shown by Minton at the London International Exhibition of 1862, at which an entire section was devoted to 'Parian and Ivory'. As to the coins generally, they are singularly poor in design and feeble in execution. We have many die-sinkers in Birmingham who would have been ashamed to turn them out; and if the Mint can do nothing better, some of our own medalists might well be permitted to try their hands, with the certain result of redeeming the credit of the national coinage [...] unless a change is made sixpences will be electro-gilt and passed off as half-sovereigns by wholesale, for there is no appreciable difference between the two coins, either in weight or appearance [...] the worst thing of all about the coinage is, however, the portrait of the Queen; which is neither valuable as an accurate representation of Her Majesty, nor dignified if it is to be taken as an idealised effigy; while the odd-looking little crown, which seems to be falling off, renders the portrait absolutely ludicrous. [38] Sharongate": Sharon Mitchell ( Letitia Dean) is caught out when Grant Mitchell ( Ross Kemp) plays in the bar a taped confession of her two-year affair with Phil Mitchell ( Steve McFadden) during Phil and Kathy Beale's ( Gillian Taylforth) engagement party. No-one ever, I believe, has met with such an ovation as was given to me, passing through those six miles of streets... The crowds were quite indescribable and their enthusiasm truly marvellous and deeply touching. The cheering was quite deafening and every face seemed to be filled with joy. [3]

This eventful day, 1897 has opened, and I pray God to help and protect me as He has hitherto done these sixty long eventful years! I feel sad at the new losses I have sustained, especially the last one of our beloved Liko! God will surely help me on! How well I remember this day sixty years ago when I was called from my bed by dear Mama to receive the news of my accession! Victoria was a skilled politician who presented herself as a devoted wife, doting mother, and grieving widow, which made her home-loving Victorian subjects love her.

In our census detective lesson there is a copy of Queen Victoria’s census in 1851. Students can compare this to the photograph in this lesson. The lesson could be extended to work with decoding other photographs or portraits, for example the photograph in the lesson on 19th people also shown in related resources.
