This Mish mash of Jimmy's comedy and life hacks lightens your spirit and helps pass away a few hours in an entertaining way. Fake it – pretending to be a better person than being a bad person or indistinguishable to the casual observer. There isn’t anything particularly unique about the essence of Carr’s advice, but his frame of reference - stand up comedy - is something different. I can’t recommend the audiobook enough, as I was laughing so often I lost track of time and “like a teenager with a laptop, I was surprised at how far I’d come”.

More of a self help book than a funny biography and almost stopped reading it before I had really got into it. If you fancy reading about what you could do, if you didn’t have a mortgage or lived in 2021 Britain this might be the book for you. Unlike other self-help books that I have read in the past, he doesn’t waffle, he just gives one piece of self-help advice after another with a bit of explanation why his advice might work. I enjoyed the parts where he shares anecdotes from his career or talks about his life more than the self help stuff.And I really enjoyed the story where he went to a Royal Variety Show and another about meeting Bruce Springsteen that is really funny.
