Isabel didn’t really know how to do much of anything other than take care of her own self, so she was a bit dysfunctional when left to her own devices, or being available for her teenage children. Una historia preciosa, que sorprende por sus giros, con una MARAVILLOSA construcción de personajes (Isabel, mi favorita) y con un final original e inesperado. I like there to be more than one POV, and feel it often helps to round out the story and flesh out the figures. Thierry who hasn’t spoken since his father died needs help and Kitty is too young to be expected to look after both her mother and brother. Isabel matures as she learns new things about herself and her family, and eventually is able to prioritise, while Matt becomes more and more obsessed, not just with the house but with Isabel herself.

Night Music' is a story about 'The Spanish House' - recently inherited by newly widowed Isabel and her two children. for me this time, I will definitely read more by Jojo Moyes, I have read most of them already and look forward to her next.

I'd say this is a great beach read, but don't expect to be challenged by it or spend a lot of time thinking about it after. It has quite sinister undertones in places and the character of Matt is especially well created - starting out as the local friendly builder and gradually getting darker and more threatening as the story evolves. Two men who each like her - one is wealthy, sleeps around and doesnt care about his family, the other is the strong silent type who obviously has a past.

Aber, da ich ein Jojo Moyes Fan bin, mochte ich das Buch auch mit diesen Einschränkungen und habe ich jedes Mal gefreut, wenn ich Zeit hatte, weiterzulesen. This really is perfect holiday reading with the book moving along at a good pace with different strands of the story coming to a satisfactory conclusion although I don’t think this has the depth of her more recent novels. I could visualise the ramshackle old house that she subsequently inherits at a totally desperate time of her life and, just when it seems nothing can possibly get worse, it does.It was perfect in the way she found solace in her violin, taking to the roof at night to play out all of her emotions. Isabel Delancey finds herself in dire straits when she realizes that her money is running out, and with two children to support, she has to face some harsh realities. The fmaily is forced to leave their expensive lifestyle behind and move to the country, where the drama around the Spanish house takes place. This is an early JoJo Moyes novel that features the Delancy family living in London, but the accidental death of Isabel's husband leaves her devastated, grieving and in dire financial straits. Das Buch ist ein angenehm leicht zu lesender Schmöker für ein Wochenende auf dem Balkon oder auf der Couch.
