A buff bod is just what they need to get up close, where the new (and extra toasty) dragon fusion gun can do its work. These white-hot atomic blasters now have the extra Strength they need to evaporate the toughest tank armour – and unlike the crude melta weapons of less civilised factions, they fire at full potency no matter how far away the target is. The Hand of Asuryan vanished soon after the inception of the Aspect Shrines. However, tales of his deeds continue to be reported. Experiencing various deaths but being reborn again thanks to his armor, notably at the hands of the Keeper of Secrets N’Kari , he has been rumored slaying the agents of Chaos in the Eye of Terror to the Eastern Fringe. His actions have even become legends to the lesser races. Asurmen later appeared under the command of Jain Zar, now pledged to Ynnead. Asurmen took part in the battle to defend the Ynnari against the Thousand Sons and Tzeentch Daemons in the Webway, vanishing during the struggle. Asurmen is capable of navigating the Webway thanks to his ship, the Stormlance. [Needs Citation] Images Iliathin's brother Tethesis desired to join the Exodites in their self-imposed exile from the empire, but his skeptical sibling refused to leave Eidafaeron. When the Fall of the Aeldari finally began with the birth of Slaanesh, Ilaithin and his brother both somehow survived the calamity and waged a desperate struggle for survival amid the ruins of their world, now overrun with Daemons. When Tethesis was possessed by a Daemon, Iliathin was forced to kill him. Afterwards, he managed to find shelter at an old temple which the Daemons refused to approach because the presence of the dying Aeldari gods could still be felt there. The first of all Phoenix Lords, Asurmen was the founder of the Dire Avengers Aspect Path, one of the most numerous Aspects of all. He is an exemplar of precision on the battlefield, devastating enemies with his elegant approach to warfare.

This is because their appointed task, the manoeuvre known as the Bahurkan -- "the hawk strike" in the Aeldari Lexicon -- requires speed above all else. Baharroth has delivered the Aeldari from aerial assaults on countless worlds with his Tempest, for it is difficult for the Aeldari to retain air superiority in the face of overwhelming numbers. It is recorded in the Asuryata that Baharroth final death will come during the Rhana Dandra, fighting alongside his fellow Aspect Warriors, the final battle between Chaos and the Aeldari of the material universe that will end with the destruction of both. Here’s the good, and the things you need to watch out for, when you play Craftworlds Eldar in 9th edition Warhammer 40k. Prior to the Fall of the Aeldari, Asurmen was an Aeldari originally from the world of Eidafaeron named Iliathin, who lived an uneventful and boring life there like all his kind. Before the Fall, he was skeptical of the prophecies of doom for the Aeldari Empire being spread by those Aeldari who would become the Exodites.

It is said that the Phoenix Lords will fight at the Rhana Dandra — the final battle between Chaos and the material universe. [1c] List of Known Phoenix Lords The ritual masks and armour that Aspect Warriors wear set them apart as the elite soldiers of their race. Although they are rarely encountered beyond their Craftworld, the Dire Avengers are nonetheless the most commonly encountered Aeldari Aspect Warriors, for they are skilled and adaptable troops deployed to deal with any external threats. We’ll take a look at Prince Yriel and his special relationship with Aeldari Corsairs tomorrow, and next week, we’ll see how the stat lines for the Aspect Warriors have been improved, and discovering why Jain Zar leading a group of Howling Banshees is almost unstoppable – sign up for our newsletter to ensure you don’t miss any Aeldari news. And show your love for the Dark Reapers with this amazing Jes Goodwin-inspired t-shirt . His wings, like those of the Swooping Hawks, are made of small vibrating plates, which, as they vibrate, provide the wearer with a lifting surface for flight which is maintained by an anti-gravitic emitter incorporated into the wings. With the release of the 9th edition of Warhammer 40,000, fans saw a lot of armies undergo drastic changes that meant almost having to re-learn how to play. Craftworlds Eldar have experienced the knife of rebalancing much the same as others, and without a codex available at the time of writing, there are many more changes ahead for the stalwart Aeldari.

As a species on the brink of extinction, beset on all sides by hostile forces, many Aeldari eventually walk the Path of the Warrior and take on the mantle of an Aspect Warrior. Whereas most Aeldari who take up arms do so in times of great crisis as the militia known as Guardians, those who walk the Path of the Warrior embrace the art of war fully, devoting their every breath to the pursuit of military perfection. There are a ton of Warlord Traits to select in 9th edition, with the absolute best being reserved for Custom Craftworlds. They get access to Expert Crafters, simply one of the best Warlord Traits available to Eldar players. With it, you’ll get to re-roll one hit and one wound roll each time a unit shoots or fights. That means your damage just got an incredible buff, giving you the ability to chip away at your foe with impunity.Ancient Phoenix Lord Armour - Asurmen's ancient suit of Exarch Armour makes use of vambraces that possess integrated Shuriken Catapults. These weapons are connected in such a way that they can be fired by either hand without sacrificing accuracy. This arrangement also leaves his hand free so that he can grasp his Diresword with both hands. If every model in an INFANTRY unit is on or in an Area Terrain feature with this trait, then it can either Hold Steady or it can Set to Defend (see below) when an enemy unit declares a charge against it. The universe of Warhammer 40k always exacts a price, however, and the one that the Eldar paid for their twisted ways and pride was one they paid in blood and terror – and one that the galaxy continues to pay.

Gav Thorpe’s 70-minute audio drama Asurmen: The Darker Road comes nearly two years after its predecessor in the fledgling Phoenix Lords series, the short novel Asurmen: Hand of Asuryan. This time we see the first of the Phoenix Lords arriving at Craftworld Ulthwé in time to join Eldrad Ulthran on an expedition to the Crone Worlds, to claim an artefact that could guarantee the safety of Ulthwé and its people. Accompanied by the head of Ulthwé’s Seer Council, Asurmen guides his fellows through their perilous journey, but his presence doesn’t necessarily denote success for the mission. Shimmershield - A Shimmershield is an advanced force-field produced by an emitter incorporated into Dire Avenger Exarch Armour that protects the Exarch and all members of his squad when they engage in close combat.Other Exarch will instead choose to leave behind the ranged combat skills that defined their early days upon the Path of the Warrior and focus on their hand-to-hand combat techniques, choosing to wield a combination of either Shuriken Pistol and Diresword or Power Weapon and Shimmershield if the Exarch prefers to concentrate exclusively on his or her melee role. These new rules really let you build an army around a particular Phoenix Lord leading your favourite Aspect Warriors into glorious battle. A legendary hero commanding a team of intense combat specialists – isn’t that what Warhammer 40,000 is all about?

There’s an incredibly strong link between a Phoenix Lord and the warriors of their Aspect Shrine, including Maugan Ra and his Dark Reapers. His inspirational presence is now captured in the new Harvester of Souls rule.

The Warp Spiders Aspect do not have a known Phoenix Lord. However, some claim that the "Wraith Spider" ( Lhykosidae), a similar person on the Kaelor Craftworld, is in fact the Phoenix Lord of the Warp Spiders. Others disagree with this due to the tendency of the Phoenix Lords to appear far earlier in history to help found their aspect. [4] Miniatures Current Miniatures In the Aeldari mythic cycles Asuryan, the Phoenix King, is the chief and greatest of all the Aeldari gods and the king of the Aeldari Pantheon. Asurmen, also known as the "Hand of Asuryan," was the penultimate warrior of all the Aeldari, for his extraordinary powers placed him at the Pinnacle of Might. Those who attend the shrine of the Dire Avengers are the manifestation of the noble warrior, showing no mercy to their foes and tirelessly devoting themselves to their people. When not at war or embarked upon missions, the Dire Avengers spend much of their time at their Aspect Shrine, meditating upon battle, studying the tactics and strategies of their ancestors, and practicing their skills at arms.
