You can connect multiple devices: Some MiFi devices let you connect 10 or more devices to a single hotspot, which will work out a lot cheaper than paying for a mobile data plan for each of those devices – but you’ll want a generous data allowance. Developments in mobile broadband technology have seen mobile dongles become smaller, sleeker and faster in recent years

Widely used - Computers, cars, mobile power sources, charging plugs can all be used, ready to use when there is electricity, and the Internet is uninterrupted. This is something of a double-edged sword. It's also up to your router to provide the coverage you need, and a USB Wi-Fi adapter isn't working magic if your router can't get a signal out to it in the first place. It's a cooperative effort, and if you have a larger home, you should start by ensuring you have an excellent long-range router. The results are better, although the upload speed is under 4 Mbps. Note that results vary quite a lot between runs. Many people will automatically go to their mobile operator for a MiFi device, since it’s an easy solution and you don’t need to pay anything up front. But this isn’t always the best idea.

Broadband dongles use the same 3G, 4G and 5G technology as a mobile phone, so nearly all mobile providers offer mobile broadband. The market is simply too competitive not to. Also, remember that most laptops today already offer at least single-band Wi-Fi built right in. This means there's little point in considering a single-band Wi-Fi adapter; these days, even the most affordable ones provide dual-band Wi-Fi support. You can add 5G connectivity to a 4G device: Many of us have yet to jump on the 5G bandwagon, but where available it is seriously fast. Although your phone may be limited to 4G, your data plan almost certainly includes 5G. A 5G mobile router will allow you to connect your 4G phone to the internet at 5G speeds. A: Of course, it supports Windows 7/8/8.1/10; MAC OS; Linux system, and can also be used in the car, charging treasure and other places where there is still power. Most USB Wi-Fi adapters work reasonably well when close to your router. Still, if you're sitting beside your router anyway, you could just as easily plug in an Ethernet cable and get even better performance. A USB Wi-Fi adapter allows you to move around your home, so you will want one that offers the range you need. You can connect Wi-Fi-only devices to a mobile data connection:Tablets are great to use at home, but what about on the train, on the beach or by the pool? Wherever you can get a phone signal, you can use MiFi to create a wireless network and get online from any Wi-Fi device.

You can avoid using slowhotel Wi-Fi: When visiting hotels that still charge for Wi-Fi, you can get the kids online all day and at a lower cost than what the hotel would charge. Better still, you can avoid using the same network as all the other guests, which is usually slow and often has poor signal in your hotel room. Sometimes these networks can also be unsecured, so using MiFi will be preferable.Larger USB Wi-Fi adapters may be bulkier, but they also offer more room for internal antennas—or even external ones, in some cases—that ensure you get the best range and performance. When I tested the D-Link Wi-Fi 6 adapter more recently, I could do so in a more controlled environment. As such, I was able to compare speeds between that adapter, the TP-Link Archer T9UH, and the TP-Link Archer T4U Plus. Those results are in the full D-Link DWA-X1850 review. Update: August 26, 2021. I’ve now moved to another location with a better cellular signal. 96% instead of 57% as shown on Pinephone, and ran Speedtest again with the “4G LTE WiFi modem” router with the same SIM card, and results are pretty good. All of these adapters are compatible with Windows PCs and several also work with Linux. None of them have official drivers for macOS versions later than 10.15 (and some don't even have that), because the chipset vendors don't bother to support macOS. An enterprising independent programmer has developed macOS 11 and macOS 12 drivers for many of the adapters we've reviewed, but you should yse these at your own risk. Adapters also likely won't work with other home electronics, as they require the right drivers. Choosing a single-band or dual-band USB Wi-Fi adapter largely depends on what your home router supports. If you're purchasing an adapter for a laptop, you'll travel with it. However, you'll want to use a dual-band adapter for maximum compatibility.
