So for example if you wanted to use the tablet in portrait mode only on the left side of your screen you are more than capable of doing so.

As a side note, make sure to uninstall the drivers for the old tablet before you install the drivers for the new tablet, otherwise it may create conflicts and cause the tablet to not work properly. I have created and attached all of the files that were requested in the "Collecting tablet diagnostics" page. It’s about as light as any other battery-free pen, but you can clearly tell that it’s made with budget in mind. I feel that they are kind of harder to press than I would personally like, but it’s not something you can’t get used to after using it for a while. I also never noticed the cursor lagging so far behind the pen while drawing that it was a problem, so it gets a pass here. When I ran the 'uclogic-probe' command the stylus stopped working again, even if I didn't press the button. In terms of the pen pressure control circles, I had no problems doing all the different circles smoothly. I mentioned that the pen wasn’t well designed with its slick plastic surface, and that was probably the biggest problem I faced.

Ideally, all the above tests should have at least a “Pass-ish” for their grades because the most vital function of a drawing tablet is to draw properly and predictably. There’s a single USB-C port, which you’ll use along with an in-box cable to plug into a USB port on your computer – it’s a very simple process, and you can easily plug it in and start drawing straight away (after your first set-up, of course). Personally, I prefer the XP-Pen Star 06 pen over the XP-Pen Deco 01 V1 pen (V1 is the one without V2 in the name), but if you were talking about the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2, then I would say the Deco 01 V2 has a better pen than the XP-Pen Star 06.

Although I’m not the intended user for a graphics tablet (I presume they are mostly targeting artists) I still see it as a benefit to my workflow. While the XP-PEN Deco 01 seems to be supported by DIGImend, I don't think that your tablet (v2) is supported. If you are looking for this sort of input on Android you would be better off emulating it on a PC which sort of defeats the purpose of having Android support. The XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 is a rather large tablet, as while the drawing area is only 10 inches diagonally, the slate is quite a bit bigger.

I will say that I never used any of the shortcut buttons on the tablet while working in After Effects. The Deco 01 V2 by XP-PEN won’t be for everyone, but if you are looking to mix up the way you interact with the computer you have been staring at non-stop for the past two years, it might be for you. There are also eight mappable buttons along the left side of the drawing space, which you can map to keyboard functions (so you don’t need to reach over to your keyboard to use shortcuts) or some other functions. If the installer doesn’t prompt you to restart your computer after it finishes, I wholeheartedly suggest restarting your computer anyways to allow Windows to properly update the files necessary for the driver to run smoothly. If I’m completely honest, I think XP-Pen has some of the nicest textures right now, even more so than even Wacom (by a slight margin, of course).

However, on a screen-less tablet like the XP-Pen Deco 01, it’s something you can get used to because of the disconnect of pen and screen. It uses a better quality pen and even has pen tilt support, so I recommend taking a look at the V2 if the V1 interests you. As with all drawing tablets, there are a few missing features, like a dial or tilt functionality, and the limited stylus angle was annoying on a few occasions. Of course, this wouldn’t be an issue if I had a proper table and chair which put my elbow right at table height, but let’s not forget that not everyone has a perfect chair/table setup.Once you’ve installed the driver and plugged in your tablet, the XP-Pen driver icon should appear in the system tray in the bottom right. I did have conflicts with it and the wacom drivers and had to uninstall the wacom for the XP to work properly (pressure/tilt/etc). Luckily, this is an older tablet and I’m sure XP-Pen won’t be using this pen with their newer tablets. There is almost no flex when doing a simple twist test by gripping both ends of the tablet and twisting. Drawing tablets aren’t for everyone – this kind of sketching tool doesn’t have its own screen, so you’ll have to rely on your computer or laptop.
