I think the reason Commando Dad is so widely accepted and loved is because it resonates with dads. The information and topics within the book are:

I like the tone of the book very much. A rather odd thing to say about a book, isn’t it? I think the friendly and understanding tone used by the author really does a good job of making readers feel adequate. Accepted even. Then, Sinclair says, he started to feel he wanted to contribute more financially while staying at home; he decided the best way was to train as a childminder. But that in itself presented a number of hurdles. "People just didn't get it. I had to explain time and again: Look, I have two kids at school, and a daughter still at home. I'm at home all day with her. I want to bring in money, to offer a positive male role model and to allow someone else to pursue their career. Is there really anything so terribly wrong with that?" But of course it doesn’t end there. Even after ten years as a stay at home dad, I still consider myself a Commando Dad in training. It is worth the effort. To a trooper, their dad has many roles, often falling somewhere between Hero, Role Model and Protector. When you become a dad you step into those shoes and you owe it to yourself – and your troopers – to be the best dad you can be. So don’t let yourself get sidelined, dads. You are simply too important. There is an irony here. My review is a series of heavy paragraphs use to describe a very concise book. If I were to write this review in the style used by Neil it would simply read:In Commando Dad, former army man and current father Neil Sinclair presents his “basic training” for fathers in the style of an army handbook. As of writing this post www.gov.uk advises us all to “Stay local and use open spaces near to your home where possible” we have been following these guidelines loyally by leaving the house once a day for exercise purposes. We tend to keep each walk under an hour and a half so no one gets too tired or cold and keep it as close to home as we can, remember that it is vitally important to the safety of your entire unit to only leave the house with members of your household! If you come across other members of the public maintain a distance of at least 2m to ensure the continued health and wellbeing of your unit. i was berated at a job once because i had no visible panty lines but i did have visible garter belt lines. lol NHS Choices – includes keeping well in pregnancy, antenatal care and baby’s development, vaccinations in pregnancy through to labour and birth, your new baby, feeding, teething and tantrums. We also need to provide emotional support, essential to keeping morale high. Sometimes, our partners can feel as if life has become all about the baby trooper. Reassure her and let her know you’re in this together. Having a new baby is tiring for everyone, but your wife and trooper have been through labour too. Tempers can get frayed in the beginning when you’re both adjusting to a completely new lifestyle on limited sleep. Keep calm.

It's straight to the point. You don't get lost in useless text and reflections. No "comedic" side stories, or anything that will make you lose time.

It was always my intention to get this book into the hands of every new dad and dad to be. The fact that Prince William is using the book – and enjoying it – makes me very, very proud. I am also hopeful that it will help get the message out there to even more dads that there is a no nonsense, straighforward guide to all the practical skills you’ll need to be a great dad.
