Description

The D3300 is the first to ship with this particular zoom; it's got the same focal length range as previous kit zooms from Nikon, but it has a collapsible design that makes it a bit more compact when not in use. It is uneven with edge of scene reflections in the flash lit set and the left lamp/s seems to be off in the tungsten lit set!

However, in another picture of the same tree/subject there is a misty white haze in the foreground (this time in front of the branches, like steam from a hot shower). it exceeds the 1,800 lines per picture height we use to mark a sharp image, scoring 2,332 lines on a center-weighted sharpness test. But most people who pick this camera up will shoot in JPG, so it's refreshing to see that Nikon has opted to emphasize image detail over heavy-handed noise reduction.

Excellent job again, Nikon, for a super affordable DSLR that prints this nicely straight out of the camera. That said, the contoured, ergonomic handgrip is still comfortable, and controls are easily accessible. Easily crop in on your subject, alter the coloring, add special effects and more right in the camera—no additional software needed. The Nikon D3300 has ISO sensitivity ranging from 100 to 12800 which improves your camera's ability to shoot at low lighting conditions with ease. I bought one of these with the 18-140mm lens, camera bag, and remote in a package that cost not much more than the lens itself would have cost.

The D3300 can make extraordinary images in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, and has loads of internal processing power to accomplish everything it does very quickly. I have to admit that having gotten used to very compact point and shoots, I was a bit overwhelmed by the size and weight of the camera with such a large proboscis of a lens. With 16mp (enough for my needs), 100% viewfinder coverage, good AF, LCD screen on the top, tilting 3in screen, weather-proof body, and good build quality (still quite far of my Nikon FM3a though) I am happy.

Front controls are sparse; there's just a programmable Fn buttion (it can be set to image size, ISO, white balance, and Active D-Lighting) and releases to raise the flash and detach the lens. The comparison paints a picture of a nicely specified entry-level model with excellent battery life, a new processor and a whole lot of resolution. Of the two, not having wireless commander is by far the more significant omission, though perfectly justifiable in terms of product segmentation. burst shooting is also strong for such a camera, and means that you can capture the perfect shot of a subject in motion. With no built-in AF motor or aperture feeler for manual-focus lenses, it only autofocuses with AF-S and older professional AF-I lenses, same as Nikon's other cheap DSLRs. If you're counting every one of your 24 megapixels, you're most likely a computer hobbyist as opposed to a photographer, but if you are counting, the included 18-55mm lens isn't as sharp as the D3300 can be at 24 MP; you'll want the sharper 35mm f/1. Macro is a full-frame L-mount lens that's designed to be a medium telephoto, portrait and macro lens all-in-one. The control layout is a good starting place for casual shooters, but there are a couple of things missing.

Guide Mode gives step-by-step help when you need it (it's like having an expert at your side), and you can easily get creative with built-in Image Effects, filters and more. Kostis, The D33/53 series bodies are marketed at those who don't use/need the settings you want to access easily. The D3300 has an 11-point autofocus system that covers the center half of the frame, but you can move the Live View focus area all the way out to the edge of the frame. The Nikon D3300 is a solid camera, in more ways than one: solid build quality and solid image quality. The Sony a9 III is the world's first full-frame mirrorless camera to feature a global electronic shutter with simultaneous readout. Its kit lens gets rave reviews and I have to admit that I am pretty happy with the photos that I get from the kit lens. That may be a worthwhile tradeoff for enthusiasts and pros, but we find ourselves doubtful that the average consumer will even notice the subtle resolution improvement.
