Description

As far as we’re concerned, the Tunze 9001 is a great option for nano-sized reef aquariums between 5.3 and 37 gallons. It’s small, quiet, and doesn’t require much energy to operate, making it perfect for tiny tanks. Additionally, it’s very affordable, making it a great option for budget-minded reefers. Two: There seem to be escaping bubbles. The water next to the skimmer is constantly looking like fizzy soda and it's actually the most hearable noise that's coming from the skimmer right now. There's also small particles of water jumping from that part of the tank. Basically just as if it's fizzy water. Is there a way to fix this? Or is this normal?

The only downside to the 9002 is that its more powerful engine is slightly louder than the 9001. Nevertheless, it’s still quiet enough to go unnoticed throughout the day. Additionally, you’ll have to clean the cup every couple of days but, within just a week, you’ll notice as your tank becomes cleaner and cleaner. Which Should You Buy—The Tunze 9001 or the Tunze 9002? Using the Tunze Flash Skimming Principle, the Comline DOC Skimmer pulls water through an efficient surface suction. The size of your reef aquarium – A larger aquarium needs a more powerful skimmer to process all of the water. Thus, a DOC skimmer for 1,000 liters (264 USgal.) should be used for a tank with a maximum content of approx. 600 liters (158 USgal.).Hard coral aquariums (SPS) with a high population of fish require an extremely high skimming capacity. The skimmer has to ensure the proper degree of purity for hard corals in case of an excessive fish burdening, whereas an especially high performance is required if it's used as a "stand-alone solution". The Tunze Comline Doc Skimmer reduces energy consumption and space used on equipment, with a neat compact design that ensures 24/7 high performance. Restoring harmony inside the aquarium, the Tunze Comline Doc Skimmer, recommended for aquariums up to 140 litres, removes all organic pollutants from the water with flash protein skimming that fetches instant results. In this product review and buyer’s guide, we’ll provide an in-depth look at both the Tunze 9001 and 9002 tank skimmers. We’ll examine their specs and discuss which types of tanks they are best suited for. By the end of this guide, you should have a clearer understanding of which skimmer best suits your needs. Tunze 9001 Product Review

Bubbles produced by the Tunze Comline Doc Skimmer measure only 1-3mm allowing for easy distribution into the skimmer cup once loaded with protein. The unique performance of the Tunze Comline Doc Skimmer sets itself apart from other protein skimmers on the market, as its exclusive design ensures that the substances absorbed by the bubbles do not return to the water. Preventing the skimmer from over foaming, is thepatented anti-overfoaming system intermediate chamber, which simultaneously controls the performance of the device. The Tunze 9001 and Tunze 9002 are both effective and efficient reef tank skimmers, but they are not rated for the same tank capacity. The 9002 features a larger and more powerful motor, making it better suited for larger aquariums. However, if you have a nano-tank, you should be fine with the smaller Tunze 9001. Consider your needs and buy based on your tank and reef requirements.I did find out that the pump of this skimmer (mine at least) is basically silent and the noise comes from the air intake (and is especially loud if you listen closely to the opening of the air tube). As I read about people extending air tubes of skimmers to quiet them down, I tried replacing the air tube that comes with the skimmer with a slightly longer one. And even though I'm not sure why: it does actually seem to work! Thus, a DOC skimmer for 1,000 liters (264 USgal.) should be used for a tank with a maximum content of approx. 400 liters (106 USgal.).

Your budget – Both products are reasonably priced, but keep your budget in mind as you start shopping. Now that we’ve taken an in-depth look at each product, it’s time to decide which one is right for your reef aquarium. You’ll need to choose based on a few simple factors, such as: So, I'm a new reefer and I got this Tunze 9001 (bought it secondhand, but is fairly new and still has warranty) for my 60L (16G) tank. If your reef aquarium is prone to accumulating scum and organic matter, you’ve probably considered investing in a new Tunze reef skimmer. By circulating water through a chamber and introducing air into the tank, these skimmers create a foam that traps organic material and small particles. Yet, for it to work, you need the right product. So, should you buy the Tunze 9001 or the Tunze 9002?

Product Questions

Mine works with an air pump and air stone. I put the pump outside so i don't hear it at all, but even when it was sitting right next to the tank on the shelf, i could suddenly hear the rest of the tank machinery which i almost couldnt before and i stopped having to turn up the tv. And three: The microbubbles. I've read that many people have had issues with this. Some found a solution, of which I tried a few of, but I couldn't find a way to fix it yet. Perhaps it has to break in? Although it's not that I just put it in the tank: it has been in the water for a bit (but not working) so it does have that little slime film on it. Two of our favorite aspects of the 9001 are how easily it is to hide and the silent operation. The skimmer is so small it will easily fit in many AIO chambers along with AIO’s with hoods. You could run this in your bedroom or office without ever hearing it! While the 9001 works so well it does have a few quirks. First, the magnet that mounts to the skimmer itself uses four small plastic “clips”.
