This anthology chronicles Batman’s transition from ‘60s camp into the dark and violent ‘70s Dark Knight that we know today. Maybe I could kind of shift into a Joe Kubert kind of thing and do some war comics, and kind of bash them out [quickly]'. Helped by artist Elmer Wexler, who critiqued the young Adams' samples, Adams brought his portfolio to the agency, which initially "didn't believe I had done those particular samples since they looked so much like Elmer Wexler's work. El exceso de texto y los guionistas son quizás la mayor pega de ésta etapa, porque en lo visual no desmerece para nada leído a día de hoy, y eso el color es el de la época y se nota.

It’s a fairly logical way of looking at the character, but O’Neil does that wonderful thing where he finds something that in hindsight really should be obvious and blends it seamlessly to the character. After unnecessarily drinking water from the exhaust trap of the car, Batman reveals that it's actually not the Riddler who's been causing trouble, but rather. would have introduced DC's first African American superhero but was rejected by publisher Carmine Infantino. He also won Shazam Awards in 1970 for Best Individual Story ("No Evil Shall Escape My Sight" in Green Lantern vol. Batman: Odyssey" makes absolutely no sense, from a plot so convoluted and illogical that it makes dreams and pornographic films appear to have the depth and pacing of "Citizen Kane," to stilted, meandering dialogue. Even Paul Dini has Batman come pretty close to murdering Ra’s during his great Detective Comics run– although Bruce stops short, while acknowledging the Ra’s holds a special place that means Bruce will go that extra mile to put him down.

Using Ra’s as a counterpart to Thomas Wayne, Morrison positions Talia as a foil for Bruce – Ra’s has been mostly absent from Morrison’s run, but his influence is felt.Adams provides a new cover and introduction, and has gone back to tweak some of his early art and re-color five of the eight stories presented here. At that time, Neal held a position of respect in the industry that no one in comics since then has achieved.
