One day, after their usual hang out, Wataru asks Saeki who he likes, which Saeki takes as an opportunity to confess his feelings. It is a bit disturbing to think that BL may do this especially well because the characters are still inhabiting a largely homophobic world that makes them feel like they can't express their attraction to each other in public, or to themselves for that matter, but hopefully that piece of the equation will change sooner than later.

Saeki confesses that he lied to Wataru and he left the way he did because he can’t be just friends with Wataru.Me encantó el nivel de entendimiento, comprensión y aceptación que quiere mostrar al lector y lo fácil que es entenderlo. Cocomi also masters the art of making a story long enough to enjoy and get to know everyone but short enough that you are longing for more. Esta bien, es bastante cute pero es algo que no hay que leer con expectativas altas sino como un manga de transición entre lecturas o para despejar un poco el cerebro.

They set off on their summer pilgrimage and the more time they spend together, the more Wataru realizes how much he enjoys being with Saeki. The two boys might be busy with their part-time jobs and schoolwork, but they’re living in the same city again at last, which sets off new sparks and adventures. Plot Summary: Chiharu Saeki and Wataru Toda are two high school students who share a common hobby: They love to watch movies. As the two travel together and experience moments of becoming closer through their love of film, Wataru stops being unbothered. Initially published in Japan in 2017, the volume is localized and published in English by Kodansha Manga. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Though Wataru tries to maintain a nonchalant disposition after the confession, he begins to question how he really feels about Saeki as they start to spend more time together through their small promise.

In addition to their usual weekend movie plans, they shake things up with a night out at a fireworks festival before continuing their summer pilgrimage to a deserted island. Even though this has a 16+ age rating, there’s really nothing that could be regarded as unsuitable for a ‘Teen’ rating. High school students are subject of shounen and shojo, as well western media for a plethora of reasons. Wataru doesn't suddenly fall in love with Saeki after he confessed to him, he started paying more attention to details and fell in love slowly, always analyzing his feelings along the way and slowly realizing that he also felt more than friendship. Wataru questions if Saeki likes guys, to which Saeki replies that he doesn’t know but he likes Wataru.I’ve been loving the office romances or entertainment industry stories, and all the ways people can meet in Japan. Dealing with their emotions is not easy for Saeki or Wataru, but they both bravely admit to themselves and each other their feelings and decide to continue forward together.

The Summer of You focuses on two high school boys who find themselves falling for each other after a summer together. I got so angry when Saeki said "thank you", I knew he was gonna leave cause that's how manga works but when Wataru found him and punched him and screamed at him I almost cried because that's how I've been feeling for a long time. In boy’s love manga, I appreciate that the love stories are a little more layered and complex than your typical high school romance, a la Ouran High School Host Club.By the time the confession comes, we're expecting it, but that doesn't cheat it of any of its impact. Her BL manga are understated and subtle; as in real life, the vagaries of the summer weather (in spite of those limpid blue skies in the colour art) play a part in the way the relationship between Saeki and Wataru develops. I've been in a situation like that (except she didn't leave and we still "friends") and God I wish I had the guts to punch and say "fuck you" the way Wataru does. Volume two is suppose to pick up when the boys are in college and I am so excited to see their love fleshed out as new adults. this was originally going to be four stars for me, but the final chapter had me on a chokehold from all the emotions i didn't expect to feel in a manga with only 5 chapters that i couldn't help but give it five stars overall.
