iRunFar’s Trail Running Shoe Archive: 2016-2019 Releases Here at iRunFar, for the most part, we’ve been publishing two articles outlining each season’s new trail running shoes (and […]. The Catamount is a new flashy speedster, the Divide provides some promise as an entry-level trail shoe, and the Caldera has a plush and smooth ride. These exposed red sections are the Pivot Post system, which provides excellent stability on uneven trails with rocks and rocks. In the colourway I have, there are some red triangular sections above the main section of gray midsole material. The mesh used for version 14 (left above) was a bit more open and porous and thus more breathable, while the 15 is more tightly woven.

The shoes lace up easily over a gusseted tongue, but the laces have a remarkable tendency for coming untied even when double knotted. The monoloop engineered mesh keeps my narrow midfoot snug while maintaining enough wiggle room in the toebox to comfortably accommodate my ever-prominent bunions. When you first slip a pair on you’ll notice the shoe is soft and flexible and has a very roomy toe box. We ran into some issues on grip, especially on mud and wet rocks, but nonetheless, this beast kept our strides surefooted and stable with its supportive midsole. For that, I can recommend the Brooks Cascadia 15 GTX for the trail runner or hiker that appreciates such an experience.

I have hit on this experience in some of the previous topics, but the ride wasn't what I was expecting. At the end of the main content, you will find another compare button, with the number of selected products out of a total of three products, that opens a modal with a table to allow users to compare the selected products.

From a pure comfort perspective, I prefer a softer midsole, but foresee the slightly harsh Cascadia ride to benefit long-term durability and foot protection.

Some of the reasons to consider the Cascadia 16 are a whole new midsole, updated upper, and nice features like a velcro gaiter attachment on the heel, and a lace loop to tuck your laces in during runs where you really don’t want them to snag and trip you up. Sure, there might be a hole or two in the mesh (largely dependent on terrain), and the lugs will be worn, but they’ll make it. Secure fit: My narrow feet felt locked in without needing to overtighten the laces, which can create pressure points. If I’ve seen them out on the trail, then I haven’t noticed them amongst the tidal wave of Lone Peaks. While the Cascadia 15 categorizes itself as a neutral shoe, the Pivot Post System accommodates a more stable stride while also reinforcing the structure of the platform, improving durability.
