I told myself I’d pace out this series, because the last 2 are big books and I have my final essay and report due around now but…. which disappointed me a little, but at the same time i marvelled at how Auren managed to hold her own every single time. Being born into power doesn't grant you charisma or automatic leadership skills and the right to continue to be in power. She has to unearth and discover for herself that he was always the villain in her story, but was simply disguised as her hero.

And fine, let's say that's understandable because of her flaws that stem from her experiences - then Slade should have been the better person. It built on the storyline of the previous books and developed the characters so nicely that in a way I didn't want it to end. We're all aware of this already, but it was interesting to see through his eyes, especially as Auren continued to have her eyes opened to what a monster he is, as well as the power she herself wields.Die Nähe zu den Charakteren sorgt für emotionale Verbundenheit und all the feels bei dramatischen Szenen. Se eu tivesse que resumir essa resenha, diria: aqui foi entregue tudo que esperávamos desde o primeiro. The only thing I didn't like was how many times the word "baby" was used - it's just not my thing but it didn't ruin the scenes either. She feels that she can’t trust anyone and that everyone is lying to her for their gain, whether it’s because they need her powers, or because they want to undermine Midas. We all expected a relationship to develop and for there to be romance, but again, this girl is just coming out of a manipulative relationship, is having feelings for another man (who shows her a different face when they're alone, which she questions), and then just says f*ck that, I'll jump his bones?

I mean what a feat to do one of those things, but all of them while also on a mini holiday taking over another country? So when she suddenly approaches Slade, tells him her life's story of abuse, and then says "I want you", he should have taken at least a moment to let her know that his love (if that's what it is) didn't hinge on sex, that he cherished her as a person and would treat her with respect. The last two only appear I think maybe twice each but we get a couple more from Malina and things are not going well for the little ice queen.

Personally, I think she deserved her world to crumble, but I just wish it wasn't by King Midas' hand.

Leading the army is Commander Rip, a notorious warrior whose name is whispered in taverns and street corners all over the six kingdoms. It was heart-warming to see her demonstrate her growth and to enter the game of scheming with all the other big players. Who am I kidding, I’m clearly going to fail even though after I finish that I have to wait until December for Gold.I love when the characters verbally battle and accuse each other, expressing their emotions and thought process through a fight. I have burned down the court of King Midas and from those flames, I will rise and wield my own power.

The last chapter is told from the POV of another character, and that ending just makes it harder to have to wait until next year for the fourth book!Much of this book revolves around them working to figure out their relationship from there, and I liked that because I didn't want to see her jump into another relationship without questioning some important things, to make sure she is protecting herself and importantly developing a sense of self away from a relationship. Raven Kennedy is a tea and dark chocolate kind of girl and can often be found binge-watching The Office or The Great British Baking Show. Unfortunately, Queen what's-her-face was so unlikable I was wishing the abusive bastard King Midas would succeed in his murder plot. Most of all, she's torned between her loyalty to Midas and the growing feelings between her and Rip - who pushes her to reveal she's Fae as well.
