We recap books (Why? Well you know when the next book in a series is about to come out and you can't remember all the main details of the previous books? That's what we are here for! Catch up on the parts that slipped your mind so you will be ready for the next one.) The most enthralling part of the book for me will have to be the questions “How the hell will they get out of this situation?”& “How will they execute their schemes?” that were present through the entire plot line. It’s ingenious how Scott Lynch implemented the lies, heist, all the moving parts and schemes after schemes filled with humorous, crude yet eloquent dialogues which I can’t ever seem to get enough of.

Thank you for your sentiments. I offer you in exchange this engraved invitation to go piss up a hill, suitable for framing. an outstanding fantasy novel and a breathtakingly impressive debut. The action never flags, and the sensory and scenic detail is extraordinary." one of the very best second novels I've ever read. If anything it's an improvement on the first in the series..."I'll wager I would have screwed things up regardless. But. . .can you imagine those poor bastards grappling their prey, leaping over the rails, swords in hand, screaming, 'Your cats! Give us all your gods-damned cats!” Red Seas Under Red Skies firmly proves that Scott Lynch isn’t a one-hit wonder. . . . It’ll only be a matter of time before Scott Lynch is mentioned in the same breath as George R. R. Martin and Steven Erikson.” — Fantasy Book Critic Mama Bear: Zamira. Say so much as an unkind word to her children and you will not live to regret it. you guys, this story does not suffer from a sophomore slump. its a brand new adventure thats luring, nautical, and full of scoundrels. That's a sweet piece," said Jean, briefly forgetting to be aggravated. "You didn't snatch that off a street."

REVIEW: Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch

Red Seas Under Red Skies is another complicated heist novel with all the danger and glamour of a Bond movie. Incredible set pieces like a Renaissance interzone where the wealthy live beyond the law, a casino high rise made of shimmering glass, and a pirate ship on the high seas lend a cinematic quality to the action. Lynch is meticulous and detailed and it all comes together both believably and unexpectedly. Once a Big Lie was let out in the world, it seemed to grow on its own and needed little tending or worry to bend to the situation.” Two teams of two play Carousel Hazard. At the end of each hand a device at the centre of the table is spun and the losers must drink the two vials that fall from its great store. These vials contain liquor of varying potency – the harshness of which is covered up with fruit juice and oils. The only way a team loses is when they are too drunk to continue. Theoretically, because the rules say that immediate default occurs if a player touches the carousel, it ‘should’ be impossible to cheat. But on the plus side, in a first book (or movie for that matter) everything has the benefit of being shiny and new. Every revelation is fresh and exciting. Every character is a mystery unfurling. He realized that he was strangely disquieted that Jean hadn’t followed him, relentlessly at his heels, looking after him as always.” This is not one of those Fantasy novels with a secret that you would only find out after reading the novel. This is one of those adventure types that would reveal the outcome of the mission in the end. I like those kinds of novels, but this one wasn't that gripping. I'm not entirely sure what went wrong, but the plot could've been better. I'm really hoping the next novel wouldn't be that boring. Again the audiobook version is a MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE! By far the most unique, entertaining audiobook experience I’ve ever had! let me put your mind at ease. With Red Seas under Red Skies, Scott Lynch lives up to readers' high expectations!" This time, however, they have targeted the grandest prize of all: the Sinspire, the most exclusive and heavily guarded gambling house in the world. Its nine floors attract the wealthiest clientele — and to rise to the top, one must impress with good credit, amusing behavior... and excruciatingly impeccable play. For there is one cardinal rule, enforced by Requin, the house's cold-blooded master: it is death to cheat at any game at the Sinspire.

Worst of all, the inner vault is guarded by a live dragon, attended by fifty naked women armed with poisoned spears, each of them sworn to die in Requin's service. All redheads." The Thorn of Camorr is said to be an unbeatable swordsman, a master thief, a ghost that walks through walls. Half the city believes him to be a legendary champion of the poor. The other half believe him to be a foolish myth. Nobody has it quite right. Don't get me wrong: first books are hard, especially in secondary-world fantasy. You have to introduce an entire world. You're constantly walking the knife-edge between boring people by explaining too much, and confusing them by explaining too little. That's not the case in a second book. In a second book, you still have that problem. PLUS you have the problem that some of your readers read the first book two days ago, and some of them read it two years ago. Some of them haven't read it at *all.*

What a week it was too! I honestly can’t think of many books which start as excitingly and with as much intrigue as Red Seas Under Red Skies does. Not only that, but there is such a huge variety of emotions you are led through as a reader that really add to the experience too.

Red Seas Under Red Skies: The Gentleman Bastard Sequence

This is one of the most enjoyable first novels I've ever read. I'd listen to Scott Lynch tell lies all day long." Lynch hasn’t merely imagined a far-off world, he’s created it, put it all down on paper—the smells, the sounds, the people, the feel of the place. The novel is a virtuoso performance, and sf/fantasy fans will gobble it up.” — Booklist (starred review) The second of seven novels in The Gentleman Bastard Sequence, by Scott Lynch. First published in 2007.

its masterfully chaotic - so many subplots, so many characters (yay for more women!), so much world-building. theres never a dull moment.
