Spellbound Huxley Prescott roped the rescue team into taking part in a reality show, but started manufacturing his emergencies to make the show more exciting. While the other Rescue Bots prepared for Bumblebee's visit, Heatwave utilized his new boat mode to help Cody and Frankie test Doc Greene's new Ski-neakers, and rescued the pair when a wave threatened them.

After the successful securing of the spill, High Tide accepted he'd been too harsh on the Rescue Bots. He partners with the other Rescue Bots and with their newest human teammates, Kade and Cody Burns, though he and Kade are frequently at odds as their egos clash. The Rescue Bots had to help stop out-of-control technology one foggy day, when the Griffin Rock mainframe was hacked into.

After 5 years of discontinuation, the original Heatwave figure saw a limited rerelease in late 2018. Partway through filming a recruitment video, Heatwave had to go help Optimus on a mission and so left the task of filming the rest to Whirl. Optimus spurred Heatwave into action to try to help Hot Shot master his Mul-T-Cog, though it wasn't until the other recruits got involved that Hot Shot succeeded. After dealing with a water rescue and a giant-sized CeCe Greene, the Bots found the whole town had decided to celebrate All Spark Day, and Heatwave acted as a substitute for the energon fountain. Available with a "Rescue Boy"-style Cody Burns figure, Heatwave is a new figure based on his fireboat Rescan figure.

The two initially have a hard time working together, truly only working together when Cody is in danger. They were eventually freed by the recruits, and Heatwave's anger was cut short by the arrival of the Griffin Rock townsfolk. After a sea rescue Heatwave took part in resulted in everyone's midwinter holiday presents sinking to the bottom of the ocean, Heatwave and the rest of the team took on the mantle of the Rider of Midwinter and delivered loaves of bread to the townsfolk. The figure's colors now look more towards the show, and the energize version's tooling is left intact. Mission Inaudible Heatwave had Cody accompany the recruits on another rescue involving an overturned truck in Griffin Rock.

He helped track down Evan and Myles, and was amused when Kade was temporarily de-aged into a child by the equipment they'd stolen. All four toys are identical to their individual releases (with the obvious exception of the missing trailer). After Blurr saved the town from a falling satellite, Heatwave was more disposed to giving him another chance, though Optimus reassigned Blurr and Salvage elsewhere anyway.

Back to School Said mentoring involved assigning Hot Shot a series of chores to do, which turned out to teach Hot Shot the skills necessary for a rescue the recruits had to carry out.Dress your kiddie up in this Heatwave Halloween costume so he can go door-to-door shaking down people for candy. The cab-robot was also included in the " Griffin Rock Rescue Team Set" in 2016, released singly in 2018, and re-released singly again as part of Rescue Bots Academy, each time with no notable changes. Heatwave and the other Rescue Bots came to Blades's rescue when he was struck by lightning and unable to fly, after which Dani sent some appreciation their way and Blades promised not to use the claw as much. He comes with a storybook titled " Rescue Bots Respond" which details his adventures, and a redecoed Cody Burns figure.

Road Trip The Rescue Bots helped construct Frankie Greene's Sky Forest, only to have to rescue the town's citizens when the plant life grew out of control. When the day finally came to open the mainland Rescue Bot Training Center, Heatwave found himself having to dial the others back with the partying. In fire engine mode, he has both a fire hose and a rescue ladder, as well as presumably a hose to use the city's hydrants so as not to draw upon his own reserves. In Season 4, Episode 1 ("New Normal"), after they defeated the Velgrox, he revealed to the people on Griffin Rock that they were not just metal rescue robots, but aliens. Screen Time Heatwave took the recruits on a field trip to a museum in Milford, during which Whirl's contention that something was amiss paid off, and the team were able to catch a thief in the act.
