Description

I picked up a few tips, but the idea of scheduling your child's life down to 15-30 minute increments every day is so unrealistic its laughable. For example, when looking for a crib, the author says to check the drop down bar to make sure it doesn't squeak and glides easily.

A friend who I had not seen for over a year came to visit my new born when he was two months old and said “I have never seen such a happy baby, you are lucky, some people we know have baby that cry’s all the time”. In the circumstances, I have to reserve judgement on this one to some degree since there is so much specific (ludicrously so, seemingly) advice in here - so I'll look at what I've written here toward the end of the year maybe. When Poppy is on the breast or feeding from the bottle she has the tendency to fall asleep whilst doing so, presumably due to the soothing feeling of being against mums warm skin and from having something teat-like in her mouth. The author sets out to explain how just 10-15 minutes difference can affect an entire day, but never implies that you should be setting a timer to stick to it literally. Think of this as a mini book review, although unlike a school book review, I am not doing this under duress! Now it turns out that my uncle and aunt actually used routines from the Contented Little Baby Book way back when my cousins were babies.

The community midwife came round the other day and noted that Poppy hadn’t been putting on enough weight. Babies who are settled into Gina’s gentle routines are happy and contented because their needs for food and sleep are appropriately met and they should sleep for their longest spell at night from an early age.In letting your little one sleep as long as they want, you will end up giving them less sleep overall, as they will wake up more frequently due to hunger and an out of kilter body clock. Admittedly my daughter Poppy is only 13 days old but I have found that she wakes naturally roughly ever 3-4 hrs of her own accord for a feed and to be changed. For new parents and parents-to-be who like having a step-by-step schedule as a guideline for baby routines, this book would be perfect for you.
