I liked the concept of this book, but never felt a connection between Shane and Whitney. Shane seemed very pushy, not romantic. Whitney's personality didn't add anything to the story.

N.E. Henderson loves taking her readers on a roller coaster of emotions and this one was just as topsy-turvy as her other works. This love story is filled with twists that make you love some characters more and hate others worse. Shane Braden, is now a paediatrics resident who, besides devoting himself to med school, has spent his last ten years trying to numb the pain for having lost Whitney, the love of his life.Tropes or Themes: Second Chance Romance, Childhood Friends, Best Friends, Found Family, Memory Loss, Pregnancy, Death, Lies, Deception, Suspenseful, Past & Present Als wäre es nicht genug, dass die Beiden sich wieder gefunden haben und die Wahrheit rausgefunden haben. SHANE BRADEN Memories are never forgotten. Or so it’s said, but she did. She forgot herself, me–us. She forgot everything. One day I woke up and there was only pain. This pain so fierce that I can’t overcome it alone. My heart was ripped out of my chest. I’m surviving, but barely. Not even the physical outlet I seek, to purge the torment of remembering the one I can’t let go, helps anymore. In all of his agony, what if the worst of his pain has yet to be expelled? A secret that could have changed everything . . . had he known. WHITNEY LANE Every day that I wake up I’m in a fog. Before ten years ago I feel like I didn’t exist. Everything I knew had been erased. Some days I wish I had bad memories because even those would be better than none at all. Instead, I feel like I’m a character in a storybook, merely acting a role. I don’t know why, but none of it feels real. That’s crazy. Right? Still, I can’t shake the feeling that everyone is hiding something from me. Even the man that lies next to me at night feels like a stranger. I just want to feel like I belong in my own skin. Everything in her life feels borrowed, but that’s a secret better left unspoken. More Than Memories by N.E. Henderson – eBook Details I read this book in under 24 hours whilst running a house with 5 children, the the youngest being 10 months! I really enjoyed this story and loved they way it captured my imagination. I found myself imagining that I was in both Whitney's (Love's) position and Shane's and found I wanted to keep reading to find out the answers both Whitney & Shane were looking for. I also couldn't understand how Shane and any of his friends or parents never knew that Whitney was alive and married Blake. They all went to school together. How was it possible that his name never came up in all those years with other classmates. It just didn't seem believable. If they had lived States away, it might have felt more genuine, but it just seemed so far fetched to me.

I initially started to give a very harsh review, but wanted to be certain. So, after a second listen, here goes. It then skips to 10yrs later where we start to see the unravelling of events that lead to the eventual rather dramatic end to a story that on the whole is sometimes heartbreaking but satisfying. Trent, a policeman, is stunned when Molly shows up out of the blue. He can't forget the day she and her parents had disappeared without a trace. He and Molly had grown up together, were crazy about one another, she was wearing his ring. They had plans for a future together. Where has she been for the last four years and why did she run off and leave him without a word?Of course, the two lost soulmates aren't being kept away by fate, but rather by intervening parents and a man who hides his obsession a little too well. It's a story about wealth and expectations and neither has room for true love. Whitney and Shane have an unlikely opportunity to be together every day, but it's driven by Whitney's obsessive husband and the need to protect Whitney and her children rather than by romance. The reader can feel the connection between the two, but we're gifted with a view of the dark and suspenseful reality thanks to Henderson's writing. We get to see that things aren't just happy, as Whitney's husband's texts increase and as one of her daughters begins to fear her visits. Henderson makes the story feel real, like you too are constantly on the look out for when someone will burst in and take the dream away. High school graduation is supposed to be the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another. The excitement of college comes and the mystery to what the future holds. Mine ended in tragedy, and although my life didn’t end and the world didn’t stop turning around me, my heart still broke.

I loved the fact that the little girl kept yearning for a family containing her real biological mom and dad but that she grows up and is smart enough to realise that that might not work. Trent has his own secrets, but they have a mystery to solve. As they work together, and Molly meets their old friends, she realizes her relationship with Trent went deeper than memories. In fact, she grew up in Ridge City, even though her parents had said they lived there just a few years. How could she have forgotten her lifelong friend and love? Has he really been looking for her—waiting for her—for the last four years? These are questions Molly has as well. Nothing looks familiar to her although she has to admit Trent sparks feelings in her she hasn't had for a long time. She senses there as things he's not telling her about their past relationship but he's agreed to help her look into her parents deaths as well as the day they all disappeared. I should have searched harder, longer, but medical school and my residency that followed took over ten years of my life. I drowned myself in work, and when that didn’t numb the pain, I sought relief with a tattoo needle. There’s also the possibility that she did something awful –and maybe that’s why she’s afraid to remember her old life. Molly knows she wants Trent now, but the truth might destroy their love. And it was totally worth the wait! Shane Braden is a man created with all the swoon worthy qualities most women, men and parents would love to find – he’s a doctor who loves children, he plays the guitar, he loves unconditionally, he’s stable (mentally and financially) – the list could go on and on… But for some reason the parents’ of the love of his life find him unsuitable and take measures to separate the young lovers.

When everything you know about yourself is a lie, how do you even begin to find the truth? Who do you trust when your memories betray you? High school graduation is supposed to be the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another. The excitement of college comes, and the mystery to what the future holds. Mine ended in tragedy, and although my life didn’t end and the world didn’t stop turning around me, my heart still broke. The book is beautifully written, in dual POV and kept me on my toes with each heartfelt word. A story full of drama, love, suspense, betrayal, that captivated me and made me ache along with the characters. I didn’t expect that it will be such a combination of feelings – sadness and joy, hope, hate(some people do terrible things for money and some are plain crazy). But I do enjoy a story in which the power of love overcomes the imaginable and ends with a ‘foreverly after’.

Journaling for peace and calm

Molly and Trent, the main characters, were realistic, charming and very believable. They had values and beliefs with none of the inflated happily ever after in stories you often read.
