This is likely not the best review, in terms of organization of thoughts. I am reflecting not just on the book, but on some of the youtube video’s where the author, Michael Newton, discusses the book and the concepts inside. If you’re not familiar with the book, the premise is that Newton, as a hypnotherapist, was confronted with evidence of reincarnation, future lives, and lives between lives. I will also state, so you know my bias, that I favor esoteric and metaphysical belief systems in general. I believe there is an afterlife; my confidence due to personal experience would push that beyond belief, and would call it a ‘knowing.’ I am not going to expound on that here. Journey of The Souls is one of the best books I have ever read, and I read so many times just to feel the sensation of reincarnation. It comes highly recommended and Journey Of Souls should be on everyone's bookshelf. It is similar to the stories told by UFO abductees under hypnosis. Without the Dark Altar's influence, there would be no soul altar here, and the souls of our forebears would be abandoned to an unknown fate. Make no mistake. They really dropped the ball on this one. This is important information which is NOT made one IOTA easier to read/hear by this production and it could so easily have been. This book was not adapted for audio as many books are. It was simply narrated.Newton advances a premise that the purpose of life relies upon our ignorance of life outside of this mortal period, but this is quite at odds with his efforts to expose what life outside of mortality is like. I won’t give any spoilers but would rather comment on the methodology. I don’t claim to understand how hypnosis works but I find it very hard to discount that these people from all walks of life are able to recount nearly identical stories without previous knowledge of such stories. Finding one’s place in the spirit world initiates a deep process of healing for it provides understanding of the purpose behind significant life choices, and how and why your soul – and the souls of those you love – lives eternally. After reading Journey of Souls, you will gain a better understanding of the immortality of the human soul… and you will meet day-to-day personal challenges with a greater sense of purpose as you begin to understand the reasons behind events in your own life. I’m a definite UFO buff and hypnotic regression has intrigued me for some time. Now after my first foray into hypnosis for past life regressions, I cannot help but think that there is some connection between the two. What I love about this book is that it comes, since he’s a doctor, from a scientific point of view. Also, unlike many ‘what is the meaning of life’ books or beliefs, this is not conceptual or vague. Dr. Newton gives clear-cut answers, via the transcripts of 29 case studies with patients, to what happens afterlife, before life, and to the soul in between lives. It. Is. Fascinating.
