I've read a lot of WWII books but this was like a Cliff's notes version of the years leading to and through the War. The newspaper Metro cited the show's frightening situations, occasional adult themes, and use of innuendo as reasons why parents might not want their young children watching it. The writing hits that perfect sweet spot between a novel and a narrative history non-fiction book; the author has somehow managed to tell the story of 1939-45 using characters that are all real people and their own words, but doesn't deviate from the truth of the matter for entertainment purposes. I only post positive reviews, if I don't like a book or cannot imagine it being one that I would recommend to a readership group whose interests differ from my own, I don't post a review.
