This book was compelling, interesting, well-written, and most importantly, fun to read. I enjoyed reading this book so much and I would read it again in a heartbeat. Go get it you guys! Now! Not to be pushy, but this book needs to be read. You just want to have one DAX in your life. If not IN your life, maybe somewhere else IN. Not to get it wrong, this is not an erotic book. It has many elements of sexual chemistry but that’s irrelevant when you get into the plot. Ok, so so irrelevant. Thompson, Howard (March 26, 1970). "Harold Robbins's 'Adventurers' Whoops Across Three Screens". The New York Times. 58. But just as it seems the boys' dreams have come true, their lives take a startling turn . . . and they find themselves members of the perilous Adventurers Guild. From the author of The New York Times #1 best-selling novel The Carpetbaggers comes a tale of violence, sex, betrayal, revenge and intrigue. The Adventurers is a story of revolution and danger in the sultry jungles of South America.

Joey walked in the clinic, looking around. The waiting area was cozy but clean, and the walls were littered with pictures of dogs and cats and bunnies and… was that an iguana? The film stars Bekim Fehmiu, Candice Bergen, Charles Aznavour, Olivia de Havilland, Fernando Rey, Ernest Borgnine, Alan Badel, and Leigh Taylor-Young. The film was the American film debut of Yugoslavian actor Fehmiu and was shot in Europe and parts of South America. It is loosely based on the life of Dominican diplomat and playboy Porfirio Rubirosa. The Adventurers had a special "airborne world premiere" on February 23, 1970, as the in-flight movie of Trans World Airlines' first Boeing 747 Superjet flight between New York City and Los Angeles, with the film's stars and members of the press aboard. It marked the first time that a movie and a plane premiered in the same event. [6] [1] Additional test screenings occurred on March 4, 1970, at the DeMille Theatre in New York City and the Fox Village Theatre in Westwood, California. [1] The pre-wide release version ran 205 minutes and was negatively received by the press and test audiences. Paramount re-cut the film at the last minute but several critics, including Pauline Kael and Joe Morgenstern, could not be convinced to watch it a second time. [1] A wide release took place at over 100 U.S. theaters on March 25, 1970. [1] Critical [ edit ]

It's well written, exciting, and full of surprises. Kids and their parents are going to love this book. My daughter started reading it after I finished and she's just as hooked as I was.Wow guys, this book blew me away. I devoured it in one sitting. It combined so many different elements- magic, dwarves, elves, monsters, fantasy, horror, and the apocalypse! You see, these are not things that I would ever think to put together. In fact, before I read this book, if someone were to have suggested this combination I probably would have looked at them funny. But Clark and Eliopulos did an absolutely fantastic job here. The components melded together seamlessly, seeming natural and flowing. They fit the storyline perfectly, mixing into a new cross-genre piece of art. Every time a new element was thrown into the mix, I was impressed by how well it fit. To call The Adventurers great literature would be a misstatement, on the other hand to dismiss it as trash would be inaccurate and unfair. Published in 1966 it captures the "jetsetters" lifestyle with a political and revolutionary twist. The story follows the life and death of Diogenes Alejandro Xenos, and what a life it is. The reader follows "Dax" from the jungles of his native Corteguay (a fictional amalgamation of Latin American countries), to the Executive Boardrooms of Paris, London and New York. Not to mention the bedrooms of various and sundry extremely willing women. After a laundromat mishap, Joey and Kendall end up with each other’s laundry. They run into each other again and strike up a friendship after Ozzy eats something he really shouldn’t have and Joey takes him to Kendall’s clinic. The two talk about how they want to get out of their comfort zones and decide that they’ll do it together. They each write a bunch of stuff they want to finally try and take turns drawing things out of their adventure jar.
