So, once again, I loved the post apocalyptic world where this was set and the idea of Wiley City and Ashtown -two different systems of governing (one with politicians who pose as civil and one with a tyrannical emperor who rules via fear)- but I wanted more, especially about the Emperor and Ashtown.

Like Gandalf, Ahsoka also knows why true evil must never gain access to power no one should have. Why Is the World Between Worlds So Dangerous in the Star Wars Universe? This is what it’s like to love Dell. She’s unattainably bright. It makes me want to touch her even if it takes my fingertips, to see her, even if I’ll see nothing after." oh, interesting! that's a fun coincidence then, lol. so, what do you think she was seeing then, if not the WBW? like...force heaven or something?

The novel is set in a world — Earth 179 — where a genius named Adam Bosch figured out the secret to traveling between worlds. His company, the Eldridge Institute, sends out travelers to the ones that they can reach (380 of them) to gather data to study them: understanding the differences between different worlds, figure out what conditions make for meaningful changes, and whatnot.

Throughout the book, this is something that Cara struggles with: she’s in survival mode, having to deal with all of the issues that come with trying to fly under the radar, assimilate, and get through the next day. As she notes at one point, her mother says that she was born reaching. I’ve been to worlds where plants kill, where people don’t wear color, where the sun sets too soon. I’ve seen the impossible, but nothing so impossible as this. (c) There’s a deep, wounded familiarity to Cara’s journey that snagged in my heart, like cloth caught in a branch: the nagging sense that you’ve been looking at the world through a breath-fogged mirror, and that if you were to wipe away the condensation and look at yourself—at this clear and cold reflection of your truest self—you would be utterly horrified by what you saw. That you haven’t truly met yourself, and that you wouldn’t want to—especially in the dark. Personally, I can't say I've ever felt this distinction to be an important one: socially, privately or in any other way. I just think there are so many better things to do with one's head other than going about life thinking who's 'rich' and who isn't. Besides, there are so many shades of 'rich', definitely more than shades of snow for Eskimos. But that's probably just my headspace being my headspace. With that territory comes a complicated tale of identity: Cara’s entire existence is a traumatic one, given her entry into the new world, her efforts to fit in with her co-workers and family, along with the knowledge that in most worlds, she’s died in horrific ways because of the systematic ways of the worlds that she inhabits.

There are three hundred and eighty worlds. You think I can have over sixty worlds studied by next week?” Romance is more of a sub-plot but the slowburn is very sweet and the most precious thing in this dark dystopia.

All of which raises an obvious question without a clear answer. Is the World Between Worlds Star Wars Time Travel? Lucasfilm Set in the future and reminiscent of The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones, this novel dramatizes a story of vengeance, warfare and the quest for power. I always got the sense that if somebody else had gone into that World Between Worlds, they would have experienced something completely different. They would have heard different voices echoing, the portals would have been different, so it's all about what you bring into it and what your experiences are and what your connections are." ― Henry Gilroy [10] What they don’t tell you about getting everything you ever wanted is the cold-sweat panic when you think about losing it (c)star: Caramenta, Caralee, Nelline… all of these are the parallels of our MC. Well, the one we're looking at is Caralee but hush, that's a secret. Love this twist. My favourite part about the book were all the different relationships and the sisterhood between Cara and Esther was a delight to read about. Esther is one of the best secondary characters I’ve ever read as she is strong in her quiet way, polite and kind, but also brilliant and ruthless when the need arises. She’s the kind of person who will always be there for the people she loves, regardless of how hard it is. Turning away, the pair resolved to close the portal to the realm to prevent others from accessing it, only to encounter Darth Sidious, who tried to enter the realm using the Force users. Bridger and Tano, however, were able to return to their own times, with Bridger closing the portal and causing the Lothal temple to collapse, taking Hydan with it. [1] Having returned to her own spot in time, Tano ventured into the depths of the temple [4] and found another portal to the World Between Worlds. [5] Ahsoka Tano's trial [ ] This story showed me that survival isn't only just about surviving, it's also about what comes after. How you cope with that pain and how you grow from it.

I loved this book, even in all it's imperfectness. The slow getting into the story, the partial revealing of the information and the getting to know the characters made me want to read more. Star Wars: Timelines (bonus content) places the events of " Part One: Master and Apprentice" in around 9 ABY. As Ahsoka spans a relatively short time, the events of the series must take place around the same year.Loth-wolves saved rebels on Lothal by moving them halfway across the planet in a moment via the World Between Worlds. (Initially, no human rider remembered or understood exactly what had happened.) Lucasfilm I feel as though in the end, Cara's world and our world aren't that much different. In her own words, "it's not a different world. It's still our world, just with different paths taken". Specifically, I loved how the plot moved at a reasonable pace and allowed us time to gather the right information and letting it steep in our minds before delivering us to the next major plot point and it was GREAT! Plus, I got to theorizing and some of my theories actually turned out to be correct so, I was quite proud of myself! An outsider who can travel between worlds discovers a secret that threatens her new home and her fragile place in it, in a stunning sci-fi debut that’s both a cross-dimensional adventure and a powerful examination of identity, privilege, and belonging. This book takes places on 'Earth Zero' where the ability to transverse between the different Earths is now possible as long as you follow one very important rule. You can only travel to an Earth where you have already died, otherwise there are deadly consequences.
