Fortunately we don’t really need to do too much detective work to find specs, as they’re shown in the Google Play Console listing. The chip appears to be a quad-core processor with two ARM Cortex-A72 CPU cores, two Cortex-A53 cores, and ARM Mali-T820 3-core graphics. While that means the new tablet has fewer CPU cores than the 2nd-gen model, two of them are higher-performance CPU cores which could make a difference in performance. The fact that all CPU cores are set to 1.1 GHz seems strange, but it’s probably a good idea to take some of the details shown in the Google Play Console with a grain of salt until Lenovo officially launches the tablet. With an affordable price, expectations for the Lenovo Tab M10 HD should be suitably low. This is a full-sized tablet that’s out to appeal to the ‘my first tablet’ crowd of kids and tech neophytes.

Through extensive experience, I can say with a certain degree of comfort that Lenovo’s budget slab is surprisingly strong when it comes to the core experience – web browsing. As such, the console provides some key specs about the previously unannounced tablet, including the fact that it will have a 1920 x 1200 pixel display, 4GB of RAM, and a Socionext SC1408J1 processor. Socionext isn’t exactly a big name in the chip space, but the company makes custom processors for clients, and the name of the SC1408J1 suggests it’s similar to the SC1408H product that Socionet offers for 8K TV devices. The rear-facing 8 MP camera with no LED flash promises better image sharpness due to its autofocus, but it's more suitable for taking pictures of documents and memos in everyday use. The base sharpness at the center of the photos is still decent, but details get lost in blurriness towards the edges. We weren't always impressed by the colors, either. The photos of the 8 MP camera show a visible red cast at times.

Input devices and operation – No fingerprint sensor

I’ve already touched on this above, but the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen comes with no such accessories. Besides the slow-charging 10W plug that you can replace with a 20W charger somewhere down the line, this one comes with very little in the box. Accelerometer / G-Sensor, Hall Effect Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor / Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor We expect very little from tablet cameras, even so-called ‘Pro’ tablets selling for more than four times the price you’re paying here. That’s not to say that such cameras can’t be good, more that they don’t really need to be. Those promises aren’t fully met, however, as the Lenovo Tab M10 HD falls short in most of the ways that count – regardless of that entry-level price. Design and screen The good news continues with a pair of stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos. No, they’re not going to stand up to the sound output of any modern iPad, but remember that we’re talking about a budget tablet here.

Where you will struggle with the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen is complex 3D games. Big releases like Genshin Impact and Harry Potter Magic Awakened aren’t going to be done justice on the budget chip here.An 8 MP lens with a fixed focus is available at the front for users of the Tab M10 Plus Gen 3. However, beyond video calls, you shouldn't expect much from the front-facing camera located above the display, since selfies are quite soft, and the exposure doesn't work properly often - especially in portraits. Due to the relatively low resolution, the detail reproduction in pictures isn't one of the strengths of the inexpensive mid-range tablet. Lenovo deserves to be criticised for the software situation. The Tab M10 ships with the dated Android 11. According to Lenovo, there should already be an update to the slightly newer Android 12. But we weren't able to find it using our review unit. The Lenovo Tab M10 Plus 3rd Gen, right out of the box, looks strikingly similar to the Oppo Pad Air – a tablet that comes deviously close to its budget price point. The Lenovo Tab M10 HD runs on the Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22T, an extremely limited 12 nm chip aimed at affordable devices.
