Description

Galaxy Watch5 has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010. It is not suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities. If the device or your hands are wet, they must be dried thoroughly prior to handling.

As for pre-installed apps, Samsung loads up Galaxy Buds, Outlook, Global Goals, and more out of the gate. You can uninstall these, but the first two in particular are overkill. The Watch5 is is water resistant up to 50 meters. It is not suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities. Availability may vary by market, carrier, model and paired smartphone that supports Camera Controller. The update will initially be available on Bluetooth versions and will roll out to LTE versions later. Of course, Samsung’s BioActive sensor makes a return here, which compiles a solid (and similarly accurate) look at your overall health, with statistics including your weight, skeletal muscle and BMI. It works just as well as it did through last year’s model, but the experience is unchanged otherwise. The Galaxy Watch5 must be paired with a Samsung Galaxy phone with Android 8.0 and minimum 1.5GB RAM.

However, aside from that, the experience here has been largely the same as that I enjoyed roughly a year ago with the Galaxy Watch 4. With even last year’s chipset making a return, there are no speed improvements to be found when using the software. Samsung Pay is also installed by default, but if you're more of a Google Wallet user, then you can switch to that instead. While we love how Samsung has opened up its Watch family to choice, there's no getting around the fact that the whole experience just feels way more fragmented than Apple's watchOS, and when you scratch the surface, more confusing too. Thanks to its BioActive sensor, this model measures heart rate and blood pressure, is capable of performing electrocardiograms and has a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sensor (to measure body composition), something that its predecessor was already capable of doing. Now, it has improved its sleep analysis technology to offer a much more complete report. Lasts for Hours and Hours The image above is a simulation of the compass feature for illustrative purposes. Screen configuration may vary depending on settings, SW version and is subject to change.

Sensor-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro can collect a smorgasbord of data with Samsung’s single BioActive Sensor, which measures optical heart rate, electrical signals and bioelectrical impedance analysis to measure body composition. It also has a temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor and light sensor. Actual battery life may vary depending on network environment, usage patterns and other factors.

The default setting for snoring detection is off. Users can turn the setting on with their smartphone at anytime using the Samsung Health App 6.18 version or above. Both premium smartwatches have a round Super AMOLED display available up to 46mm. But the Galaxy Watch5 Pro truly stands the test of time with the built in Sapphire Crystal Glass. What’s more, the Galaxy Watch4 Classic has up to 40 hours usage time, whereas the Galaxy Watch5 Pro can last up to twice as long with up to 80 hours of usage. Slightly sharper than the Apple Watch 7 at 330ppi, it's interesting to see Samsung steer clear of square and rectangular alternative designs, despite most of its competition – Amazfit with the GTS series, Huawei with its Watch Fit, and Fitbit going that route.

Swipe to the left-hand screen to see notifications, and keep swiping through the screens to the right of the watch face to cycle through your tiles. These are rich widgets of sorts, each giving you a peek into an app or feature, or a shortcut to the full experience. All this smart technology makes the Watch 5 Pro a true Wear OS watch as much as a fitness watch. You’re able to use Spotify, Soundcloud or Deezer independently from your phone, all with just your voice using Google Assistant.

To activate snore detection, users must turn on feature under settings using the Samsung Health application. The new smartwatch from the South Korean manufacturer could be the closest thing to a rival to the Cupertino-based flagship wearable. Without going into detail, and making it clear that they are two different worlds, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has some of the features that made the Californian watch so popular, and it is also cheaper. There are those who will still prefer to buy the Apple Watch Series 7, especially those loyal to the brand, but what is clear is that this, along with its Pro version, is the most advanced Android smartwatch so far.
