I lived all the audiophile fever in the late 80’s and 90’s, had many equipments and tested all the gear that I could, from entry-level to high-end. I have a pair of HD-448 full circumaural full size headphones which are really nice and I had read a lot of good things about their equipment.

Frequency response refers to the way a set of headphones either stress or deemphasize any given frequency. The 1/8 plug is 90 degrees, but sticks out rather far and doesn’t have a strain relief which is a poor design. The curve flattens out towards the 100Hz mark, at which point it's relatively even through the remainder of the frequency spectrum. The only twist on the formula is that the cord is asymmetrical, meaning the length of cord running from the neck split to the left ear bud is far shorter than the length running to the right.Again, all we're looking for are points where one channel, be it left or right, is playing back at a higher volume. There were a few times where we forgot we were wearing them and there were a few times we were somewhat uncomfortably aware. I was in awe when they showed clips from his Hong Kong films where Chan was not just partaking in these breathtaking fight sequences but putting his life on the line while performing his own insane stunts. I couldn’t make a final review on a sound product without listening private investigation from Dire Straits. Moving to Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”, I could clearly hear the fingers sliding through the guitar strings and frets, in a balanced sound.

Note the CX 300-IIs' graph shoots up a bit abruptly just before 1000Hz, while the Turbines creep up more gradually. Though the Turbines have a better aesthetic design, they do look a bit drab compared to the CX 300-IIs.They were, at the time, almost impossible to find, so I found myself making friends on Prodigy bulletin boards and deep diving into VHS tape trading, where I would eventually get to see these films, all brilliant.

I would recommend this to Bass-heads, or people who mainly listen to Rap, Hip hop, or love bass solos. Part of the upside of having thinner sleeves is less pressure being exerted on the insides of your ears. Design: It is designed to have the right wire wrap around the back of your neck to help fight microphonics. Got them 'cos of the name and I liked my old HD515s, but will be avoiding lower end Senn IEM's now - JVC HA-FX51c's I temporarily switched for these were noticably better in most respects albeit without any extra bass sound (and looked better/more colourful/stayed in more easily in my small ears) so I went back to them when I could. It is interesting to note that the CX 300-IIs block out the area around 1kHz much better than the SE420s. They have a good cord guard, which means the internal wires won't sever against the buds should you recklessly shove the headphones into your pocket for a while. Even if you are a classical music fan, you still want to hear the cellos, contrabass and the low notes of a piano.
